Do you hate the Nightmare fight? ME TOO. So I spent around 3 hours labbing out a fast and safe way to beat them. I hope it helps!
bombs 1 + 2 While nightmare is throwing them, chase them and try to hit him as much as possible. After the bombs land, find a safe spot and stay there. If nightmare is close, hit him.
pellets 1: hit once or twice in between bursts, if you greed this one it's difficult to avoid
Napalm 1: Go to the bottom of the screen. Nightmare can only go 66 units left, on top of you, or 66 units right, so use that to your advantage and hit them once each time they come down.
Friends 0.5: For the first friends, Nightmare will always go to the same spot, so hover near the middle and then hit them a bunch of times, prioritizing nearby friends first
pellets 2: hit once or twice in between bursts, if you greed this one it's difficult to avoid. If a bomb lands near you when you're trying to attack, focus entirely on dodging.
Friends: Take out nearby friends as quickly as possible, once Nightmare lands chase and attack them, prioritizing nearby friends.
Fire bars: there is a safe spot in the middle. Try to go to it. If you are one pixel too low your character will flash, so I recommend using that as a guide. Once in that spot, attack repeatedly. (if you get hit during the attack, do it normally)
Napalm 2: same as napalm one if you are low hp. If you have some hp, stick near the top to attack him because it's faster after you kill him.
